National Chip Week 2026
National Chip Week is going BIG for 2026
National Chip Week is back, with a new October date, with one mission: to help fish and chip shops give customers something new to get excited about.
This year, it is all about “Chiploads of Happiness” – big flavours, loaded chips, brilliant specials and the kind of food customers cannot help but share. For younger customers, particularly Gen Z, food is about more than filling a gap.
They want something indulgent, memorable and worth posting about. They want bold toppings, great sauces, customisable choices and dishes that feel a little different from the everyday – And that is a huge opportunity for fish and chip shops.
Chips are having a MOMENT
Chips are not just the side any more. They are the base for some of the most popular, profitable and flexible menu ideas around.
From loaded fries and chicken toppers to curry sauces, cheese, spicy seasonings and street-food-inspired flavours, there are countless ways to turn a familiar favourite into a reason for customers to visit.
The beauty is that shops do not need to reinvent everything. Great chips are already at the heart of the business. National Chip Week is simply the perfect excuse to build on that strength, add a little theatre and create a special customers can only get for a limited time.
Make it your OWN
National Chip Week works best when shops put their own stamp on it.
Create a limited-edition loaded-chip special. Run it for one week only. Let customers vote on their favourite topping. Offer a free dip with every loaded portion. Give your team a challenge to create the ultimate chip dish.
You could keep it classic with cheese and curry sauce, go big with chicken and spicy toppings, or create something completely unique to your shop. The important thing is to make it feel like an occasion.
A good special gives regulars something new to try. A great special gives younger customers a reason to visit for the first time.
Built for the next generation of customers
Younger customers are more adventurous with food than ever. They are looking for bold flavours, generous portions and a menu that gives them something to talk about.
They also want food that looks good. A stacked, saucy, loaded portion of chips is made for social media: colourful, craveable and perfect for a quick post, story or group chat recommendation.
That is why this year’s campaign comes with ready-made social assets designed to help shops join the conversation in a way that feels current, playful and easy to share.
More than a week of Chips
National Chip Week is a chance to drive footfall, add energy to your menu, and create content that gets people talking locally. Use the posters, social assets and campaign materials. Take photographs and videos of your specials. Get the team involved. Ask customers what they want to see next.
Most importantly, have some fun with it. Because this October, chips are not playing second fiddle…
THEY ARE THE MAIN EVENT!
