Fish & Chip shops up and down the UK helped celebrate our industries National Fish & Chip Day (NF&CD) by dressing up their shops, running competitions, raising money for charity and joining in on social media.
Throughout the day #nationalfishandchipday remained the 3rd talked about topic on Twitter with it even making the 2nd spot in some regional areas!
In London, Kingfisher Fish & Chips, Winner of 2017’s Chip Shop of the Year pitched up their mobile van at Trinity House and dished our free portions of Fish & Chips to workers and tourists alike whilst raising money for The Fishermen’s Mission!
The beach themed event attracted thousands of visitors and a range of handy props helped the public get involved.
Down in Portsmouth, Long Johns kindly provided Fish & Chips to service men and women on board The HMS Forth, Mersey and Tyne whilst members of The Royal Navy were interviewed by The BBC Breakfasts’ John Maguire on their fisheries protection fleet.
Celebrity Chef’s Gordon Ramsey and James Martin took to their Twitter pages to showcase and celebrate the Nations most savoured dish, whilst other high-profile celebrities and brands also joined in #nationalfishandchipday on Twitter, reaching thousands of users!
In the week leading up to the big day, Henry Colbeck and customers took part in the Fish & Chip relay race, which aimed to visit as many areas in the UK to raise awareness of NF&CD. As part of the relay, we dressed up the Angel of the North in official NF&CD bunting whilst both depots enjoyed a chippy lunch to celebrate our National Day.
