Two Decades of Dedication: Nicky Catherall Celebrates 20 Years of Service

This month, we’re proud to recognise an important milestone as Nicky Catherall celebrates 20 years of service with Henry Colbeck.

Nicky first joined the business as a cleaner, and through hard work and the strong relationships he built across the site, he was taken on as a picker in 2005, becoming a key part of the loading shift for almost two decades. During this time, he consistently went above and beyond his role, supporting supervisors and managers through periods of change, opening and securing the building, learning new systems, and helping to keep operations running smoothly whenever extra support was needed. Known for his distinctive picking style, Nicky always prioritised neatness, accuracy and customer service, making him someone colleagues could rely on to get things right first time.

In 2017, Nicky expanded his responsibilities further by becoming a qualified FLT Instructor, training Reach Truck and Counterbalance drivers on site and passing on his experience to others. And, in 2024, Nicky took on a new challenge by training as an HGV driver to provide greater flexibility with vehicle movements on the loading shift. Later that same year, he made the move into the Transport Team as a full-time HGV driver, bringing his careful and considered approach to the road as well as the warehouse.

Now affectionately known as “Captain Slow”, Nicky’s driving style reflects the way he has approached his entire career — steady, responsible and focused on doing the job properly. His journey from cleaner to picker, FLT instructor and driver is a brilliant example of how dedication, adaptability and the right attitude can shape a long and varied career within business.

Everyone at Henry Colbeck would like to thank Nicky for his 20 years of loyalty, hard work and commitment, and to congratulate him on reaching this outstanding milestone! Thank you Nicky!
